ADOT SR 179 Construction Update: Week of Oct. 5

Work Continues:
Oak Creek Bridge
Concrete was poured on the new bridge and the bridge girders for the third span of Phase I are anticipated to be placed October 12. Access to Tlaquepaque’s Creekside driveway remains open.
Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash
Preparation for the concrete portions of the uphill and downhill walls between Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash continues from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday with minor work on Saturday.
Night Work at Hillside
Concrete pouring of the wall across from Hillside will be done at night. Minor traffic impacts are expected when the concrete trucks are in the area.
Poco Diablo and Chapel Road
Workers continue to prepare for paving in the southbound lanes near Poco Diablo and the large cut north of Chapel Road. Paving in these two areas is anticipated the week of October 12, which will complete the roadway section from Back O’Beyond to Morgan Road.
Traffic Changes
Traffic will be shifted on Monday to the southbound lane between Bowstring and Morgan Wash while the northbound roadway is prepared for paving.
Project Success: Decked Poured on Oak Creek Bridge
Concrete was poured on October 1 to complete the first span of the new bridge. Once the girders are set from this portion to the Tlaquepaque corner, the remainder of concrete will be poured.

Tune in to KAZM AM 780 at 9:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, and to Yavapai Broadcasting on AM 1600 KYBC after the 8 a.m. news and also at 2 p.m. on 105.7 KVRD. Yavapai Broadcasting also runs news updates throughout the day every Monday on the upcoming week’s activities.

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment and personnel availability. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delawys, may not always be known in advance.
