ADOT SR 179 Construction Update: Week of Sept. 28

First Priority: SAFETY

Bridge Work Continues
The Bridge Abutment wall next to Tlaquepaque was poured last week.  The Abutment will include a small retaining wall placed parallel to the Tlaquepaque wall and is scheduled to be poured this week.  Bridge Girders for the third span of Phase I are anticipated to be placed in early October.  Access to Tlaquepaque’s Creekside driveway will remain open.

Work Between Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash Continues
Preparation for the concrete portions of the uphill and downhill walls between Canyon Drive and Morgan Wash continues.  The work will be from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday with minor work on Saturday.

Work Continues on Retaining Wall Across from Hillside
Concrete pouring of the wall across from Hillside started last week and will continue this week. Minor traffic impacts are expected when the concrete trucks are in the area.

Work at Poco Diablo and Chapel Road Continues
Workers continue to prepare for pavement in the southbound lanes near Poco Diablo and the large cut north of Chapel Road.  Paving in these two areas is scheduled for next month which will complete the roadway section from Back O’ Beyond to Morgan Road.

ADOT and Southwest Asphalt Paving appreciate your continued cooperation as these improvements are made to SR 179.

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment and personnel availability. We try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delawys, may not always be known in advance.
