Volunteers at the Sedona Police Department are busily preparing to host the annual National Night Out at Sedona City Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 4. According to SPD Sgt. Kevin Ahern, National Night Out is an event where police departments nationwide open their doors to their communities to show them what they do.

Beat the heat on First Friday with an evening of poetry and fine art, starting at 4:00pm in the Sculpture Garden. After an hour of delightful poetry, move inside for the opening reception of the Arts Center’s new August Exhibit, Canyon Lands. The show opens with the reception on Friday and runs through September 2nd. Open daily from 10am to 5pm.
Made in Clarkdale, one of the Verde Valley’s longest running art shows has morphed into a gallery of its own. After a two-day July 4th preview, the e-Go Gallery at 921 Main Street is ready for its first month-long show. Join Clarkdale’s best on July 31, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., for a night of art, music and refreshments.
The Heart & Vascular Center has the largest team of cardiovascular physicians ever assembled in Northern Arizona, with offices in Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Flagstaff, Sedona and Winslow. James Dwyer, M.D., medical director of the program states, “By opening offices throughout Northern Arizona communities, we are ensuring patients can receive cardiovascular care close to home.”
In the past the gallery only carried Joe’s wildlife watercolors but over the past year we have started carrying his oils of wildlife and now with the addition of these new pieces we have some very nice landscape paintings from the Sedona, AZ area. This first piece is titled “Boynton Canyon”. The next one is taken in the same general area and it is titled “Canyon Shadows”.
The Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa hosts Fred Astaire Arizona for its First Annual August Moon Ball on Friday, August 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fred Astaire Arizona has been celebrating ballroom dancing nationwide for over 44-years. Hotel management is excited to have Fred Astaire Dance in Sedona teaching individuals and couples of all ages.
Hal Holbrook’s new film “That Evening Sun” makes a Sedona stop on its festival run prior to its theatrical release on Tuesday, July 28. The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Arizona premiere of this powerful drama as the third film in its seven-week “Best of Fest” series. There will be two screenings of the film at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Harkins Sedona Six Theatres.
On Sunday, August 2 at 2 pm in the park theater, Donald E. Weaver, Jr. will present “The Native American Rock Art of the Sedona and Verde Valley Region.” The Sedona and Verde Valley area contains one of the largest and most complex concentrations of prehistoric and early historic period rock art in the United States.
Performers, poets, filmmakers and visual artists are invited to contribute their talent to “Perspectives of Peace and Justice for People and the Planet,” a community wide, interfaith, multi-media event at 7PM, Friday, October 9 at St. John Vianney Church in Sedona, announced Teri Bays, Liturgy and Music Director at the church and producer of the event.
